  • ANNUAL CONVENTION

Nearly 100 MPEA members were on hand for the 2011 Annual Meeting in Billings May 20 and 21.

Those attending were able to hear presentations from Ted Handle and Stephen Kessler on “Working Styles” and the “Legal History of Labor.”

Governor Schweitzer was the Friday Night Banquet speaker and discussed not only the just concluded 62nd Legislative Session but the pay settlement and the need to organize for support of candidates who are supportive of public employees.

The new head of the Montana AFL-CIO, Al Ekblad, was on hand to discuss what’s happening nationally in the Labor movement and to impress on members the need for workers to begin now to think about the 2012 elections.

Members also elected officers and passed several resolutions, and honored outstanding members one of whom won the Morey/Bukvich Award.

Winners of MPEA’s $1000 scholarships were announced and Lewistown was selected by members as the site for the 2014 Annual Meeting.

The 2012 Annual Meeting is scheduled for June 15 and 16 at Fairmont Hot Springs and the 2013 Annual Meeting is scheduled for the Kalispell area.
